Dumbleyung is a service centre with a post office, school, tavern, public library, caravan park and other facilities. Each year in the first week of April the town hosts "The Taste of Dumbleyung" event which attracts a range of visitors.
The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. The town itself is a central receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling (Wheat silos)
